The formation of the NSDTRC (USA)’s Breeder Directory began in 1994.  Its purpose was to develop new guidelines to encourage sound, positive breeding practices for old and new breeders as well as educate potential buyers.  The Directory came into being in 1995 and was open to all breeders who had been NSDTRC (USA) members in good standing for at least 1 year.  This directory was established to encourage, educate and promote responsible breedings and breeders … a positive step for the betterment of our beloved Toller.

All Brood Bitches and Stud Dogs must be registered with the American Kennel Club or with a National Registry recognized by the American Kennel Club.  Breeding stock must be clear of any non-breeding agreements or Limited Registrations prior to being listed.  In addition, breeders and stud dog owners have stated that the following health clearances have been done on their breeding stock: OFA hip certification; CERF clearance of any eye problems; OptiGen Tested for PRA.  Breeders also agree to supply properly completed papers (registration papers, bill of sale, vet certificates and a 3 generation pedigree of the pup).

Each year breeders submit a new application and pay a fee to be listed on the Directory.  Current directory members and listing requirements are sent to anyone inquiring about Tollers and are listed in each issue of the Club’s newsletter “Quackers”.

As in any situation, it is still the Buyer's responsibility to confirm the information on the Breeder's Directory with the Breeder when a pup is purchased from them.  Breeders listed in the Directory are not guaranteed by the NSDTRC (USA).

STOP!  Before requesting a list of breeders, you are strongly encouraged to download and read "So You Think You Want to Get a Toller...."  This PDF document will give you important information on questions to ask, questions breeders might ask, and much more.  Adding a puppy to your family is often a lengthy process especially with a breed such as Tollers that have fewer than 500 registered a year.
